PMU Guide
The Nano Hair Strokes Journey
Not sure which technique is right for you? Schedule an in-person consultation and I'll walk you through microblading vs. nano, while learning more about your skin type, brow shape, hair color, and desired stroke pattern. If you don't need an appointment but still have questions after reading the FAQ and the healing process, text me — free of charge — at 669-335-3325.
PMU Pre-Care
To support the best possible pigment retention and a smooth session, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
No coffee, alcohol, or energy drinks on the day of treatment
No Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 24 hours before treatment
No Omega-3 (fish oil) and stop using Retin-A 1 week before treatment
Avoid tanning or intense sun exposure for 3 days before treatment
How to Prepare
Nano brows are a cosmetic tattoo — not a same-day beauty treatment. The result develops gradually inside the skin over several weeks. Your brows will change appearance during healing; at certain stages they may look darker, lighter, uneven, or temporarily faded. This does not mean the pigment failed.
The final color and softness appear slowly over 3–6 weeks and are completed at the perfecting session.
Aftercare & the Ghosting Phase
Almost every client has a moment where they think something went wrong. This is expected. During the first 10 days your brows may:
Appear darker than expected
Feel tight or dry
Lightly flake
Look uneven or patchy
Become very light or seem to disappear
This is the ghosting phase. A thin healing layer of skin temporarily covers the pigment. As the skin renews over 2–3 weeks, the color gradually returns. Do not judge your brows before week 4.
The second session is part of the treatment and is required to perfect shape, density, and retention.
Healing Timeline
Day 1–2Brows look bold and defined — darker than the healed result.
Day 3–7Dryness and light flaking may occur. Do not pick or scratch.
Day 7–14Brows may look very light or faded (ghosting phase).
Week 3–4Color resurfaces and softens.
Week 4–6Brows are healed and ready for the perfecting touch-up.
Maintenance & Washing
For the first 7–10 days:
Keep brows clean and dry
Avoid sweating, workouts, saunas, and swimming
No makeup, skincare, or sunscreen on the brows
Do not rub, pick, peel, or scratch
Avoid sun exposure and tanning
Wash your face carefully around the area. A light cleanse with water is fine, but do not soak the brows. Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping face-down.
Products to Avoid
Do not use Retinol, Retin-A, tretinoin, glycolic acids, exfoliating acids, or strong anti-aging products:
For 2 weeks BEFORE your appointment
Anywhere near the brows, including the forehead
During the entire healing period (approximately 4 weeks)
If you are returning for a 4–6 week touch-up, these products must remain stopped until both sessions are completed and healed. They accelerate skin turnover and can cause poor pigment retention and premature fading.
